The appositive constructions have been described from the grammatical tradition from the perspective of the nominal ‘specific’ or ‘explanatory’ adjacency, including structures of lexical composition and/or incidental nature and obviating others that establish properly ‘identifying’ predications starting from senses such as ‘origin’ or ‘location’. In this work, the grammar of appositive constructions will be reviewed using lexical-syntactic and discursive criteria, as well as their classification, which presents a clear structural link with the nominative, genitive and locative grammatical cases.
