This article describes the different stages of construction of a Model of Rhetorical Moves for the analysis of Research Articles in Spanish. Beginning with a systematical analysis of the literature in this area, a case study, and the synthesis and homologation of the gathered information, a model composed of 37 Rhetorical Moves was built up, and the moves were associated to each of the sections of the research article. Some of these Rhetorical Moves may appear in more than one section, generating determined cycles at the beginning or at the end of the Research Article. In this manner, there may be Rhetorical Moves that appear in specific sections. This work is an attempt to synthesize and to open the discussion in this area, and to contribute to the teaching of scientific writing in our mother tongue.
