Abstract

In this research paper Ifocus on a specific period ofthe Spanish-American Avant-garde, that which extends from 1918 -year of the publication of Ecuatorial, a seminal Avant-garde work by Vicente Huidobro-, to the Ultraist movement in Buenos Aires (1925), as exemplified in Borges, with reference as well to the singular achievement of Cesar Vallejo's Trilce (1922) and to the poetic production of Huidobro and Jorge Luis Borges in Europe immediately following World War I. I define the main traits of the Avasnt-garde poetics by means ofa close reading of representative texts from these three major poets
